Farmland Smoke Ham Worth The Money

Farmland Spiral Ham
Around our house it’s turkey for Thanksgiving and ham at Christmas. Always. And both holiday meals are always looked forward to with great anticipation by all.
This year our table featured a smoke spiral ham by Farmland. Now I had never tried this brand before that I knew but it was sure delicious. So much in fact that I googled it to find out a little more about the company who produces this wonderfully flavored slice of Christmas cheer.
As it turns out the Farmland brand is a subsidiary of Smithfield Foods which is the brand that we would normally purchase. This year we decided to try something a little different and was not disappointed.
I am not sure it is the same in all areas of the country but here the Farmland brand is a little less expensive than Smithville named brands. This was the major reason for us selecting this brand. The economy has forced many of us to try different ways in which to stretch our food dollar. In this case the Farmland Ham was worth every penny and was a pleasant surprise in quality.
Next year I would not be surprised to see another Farmland Ham on the table. It was that good.
Rating : A full 10 – I can’t fault this ham in any way.
Cooking Instructions
Farmland Pre-Glazed Spiral Sliced Hams are fully cooked and are delicious served cold. If you would like to serve the ham warm, follow the directions below.
Warming the Ham:
1. Heat oven to 275°F. Remove all packaging materials including the clear “button” on bone of ham.
2. Place ham in shallow roasting pan, flat/face side down. If there is any glaze left in packaging, evenly spread over exterior edges of ham. Cover ham tightly with aluminum foil.
3. Bake at 275°F. for 15 minutes per pound until warmed through (approximately 2 hours). DO NOT OVERCOOK!
4. Remove ham from oven; let stand 20 to 30 minutes before serving.
The above is the basic recommendation for heating a Farmland Spiral Ham. You can find a delicious recipes on the Farmland website: Farmland Recipe Box

We use a lot of the lower priced and store brands and often times find they are produce by same companies that make the higher dollar name brand product. It is a good way to save money and still feed your family quality meals.
The Smithville Brand is an excellent choice and like the author I am hesitate to try value brands or a brand I have not tried because they are so expensive. With that said I checked our Wal-mart store and they do caring Farmland Brand so I will be giving this ham a try.

I have used Farmland products for years and enjoyed them very much. The ham will freeze well so any leftovers can be sliced and packaged into serving containers and frozen for quick meals.
I live in Tennesse and Ketchmar is one of the favorite hams here. They are served in the deli’s too.
